Cucumbers

The cucumber market remains steady across multiple regions, with Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee, Canada and Mexico all maintaining active supply chains. However, the Midwest is experiencing some production challenges due to cooler weather conditions. Growers in the region have reduced their harvesting schedule from daily to every other day as crops respond more slowly to the temperature drop. While this supply adjustment may push prices up by a few dollars, industry experts don't expect any major market disruptions.

Lemons

Markets remain firm and higher on smaller sizes as the California heat continues to push the fruit toward larger sizing.  South American imports are still coming in good supply on the East Coast, and Mexico is ramping up significantly.

Lettuce

The iceberg market remains active as supply remains tight. Lighter field weights and increased disease and insect pressure are affecting yields as well. Romaine is trending similarly with quality issues being monitored at harvesting. Processors are also inspecting product post-harvest to maximize shelf life to best of their ability. Both markets are prime to remain escalated.  

Peppers

Market remains stable with full Midwest production maintaining competitive pricing. Strong volume and quality across all major growing regions (California, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Canada). Potential for modest price increases as cooler weather impacts production.

Potatoes

New crop potatoes are readily available as Idaho fills the storage sheds during the current harvest season.

Tomatoes

The tomato market experienced a decline this week as supply volumes increased across key production regions. East coast and Mexican operations have resumed higher-quality production following improved weather conditions, providing significant market relief after 2-3 weeks of supply shortages.

California production remains stable and consistent with previous periods. Virginia operations are scheduled to commence production within the next week, which is expected to further increase market supply and maintain downward pressure on pricing.
