Overview & Projections

August will bring market shifts across the country. The Midwest and East Coast are expected to see increased produce volumes throughout the month. New York is already experiencing fluctuations in areas like Syracuse and Buffalo, as well as regions in Washington and Oregon around Yakima, where apple and cherry volumes are increasing.

On the West Coast, Arizona is moving into a plentiful status, which should eventually benefit Southern California capacity; however, California coverage currently remains steady but average. In the Southeast, the Carolinas are showing better rates as Georgia conditions improve, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming weeks. Pay particular attention to the Northeast, Midwest, and Pacific Northwest, as spot market volatility could arise at any time.

Arizona

Quality area to secure trucks. As Southwestern parts gain availability, Arizona will enhance overall.

California (Northern)

Uniform pricing is still occurring which is a good sign. Volumes & availability are consistent, allowing the spot market to hold true.

California (Southern)

Similar to Northern & Central California. Market concerns aren’t materializing. With Arizona progressing, it should benefit Southern California

Carolinas

Demand is easing up. Coverage is fair & maintaining stable status. This pattern will persist weekly.

Eastern United States

Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey are tough areas to secure trucks. With product quantities increasing, demand will rise in surrounding states as well.

Florida (Northern)

Volumes are decreasing as product moves north up the east coast. This will favor outbound pricing. Only area that is somewhat tighter will be Atlanta & Northern Georgia.

Florida (Southern)

Carriers will deadhead north for freight. Peak produce season has ended.

Georgia

Volumes are decreasing as product moves north up the east coast. This will favor outbound pricing. Only area that is somewhat tighter will be Atlanta & Northern Georgia.

Idaho

This market will battle with Washington and Oregon for coverage. Longer deadheads will occur over time.

Midwest

Region will tighten as produce volumes rise. Michigan is fluctuating the most this week.

New York

As we move through August availability will decrease. The start of apple season is here.

Washington/Oregon

Be cautious in areas around Yakima and Northeastern Oregon. August will be the start of increased reefer shipments.

Texas

Tightening in South Texas. Laredo and McAllen rates are up. Consistent in Dallas and Houston. All other areas are stable.
