Overview & Projections

Flooding is now posing significant challenges on the east side, with flood watches in Southeastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Virginia. These conditions are likely to disrupt transit times, and carriers may experience delays navigating affected regions.

While the Southeast finally offers some relief this week, carriers are expected to shift their focus, moving up the East Coast in pursuit of freight opportunities. Despite improvements in market conditions overall, certain areas like Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey and Northern Nevada remain more challenging for carriers, who are becoming increasingly selective in these regions.

Dry van rates show improvement as the peak beverage and produce seasons soften after the holiday rush. However, rates are not projected to increase again until late August or early September.

Arizona

Market alignment with Southern California. Yuma to Phoenix will be the most challenging areas.

California (Northern)

Northern and Central California are stronger
and upgrading. Carrier costs will continue improving throughout the month.

California (Southern)

Throughout the week capacity is projected to tighten. Locking in carriers early in the week can
mitigate higher weekend costs.

Carolinas

Relief is coming from neighboring states, just hasn’t transpired yet. Consistent with last week.

Eastern United States

Outbound volumes are moving up the East Coast and New Jersey ports causing limited coverage in Pennsylvania. Also straining Delaware and Maryland areas.

Florida (Northern)

Central Florida and Northern parts of Georgia
will be more demanding. Nonetheless, these areas are finally able to rebound as volumes
decrease.

Florida (Southern)

Bouncing back with sufficient availability. This trend will continue week to week.

Georgia

Central Florida and Northern parts of Georgia
will be more demanding. Nonetheless, these areas are finally able to rebound as volumes
decrease.

Idaho

Maintaining a quality market. Movement isn’t taking place for now.

Midwest

Moderately tight conditions in Ohio, Indiana and Western Michigan. Wisconsin will be
more stable and Illinois  is consistent.

New York

Be cautious of flooding in Southeastern New York. Outside of that, New York capacity is adequate.

Washington/Oregon

Friday is showing subtle change, nothing major. The rest of the week looks promising.

Texas

South Texas remains favorable near McAllen. San Antonio, Dallas and Houston are limited. Austin and Western Texas are better markets.
