Overview & Projections

Back-to-school shopping is expected to increase van volumes in the near future. However, for the time being, the market is experiencing a period of relative stability, and spot market carriers are showing greater compliance.

Spot rates are continuing to decline, and most states are displaying week-to-week improvements. With tender rejection rates lingering around 6%, a significant market shift is unlikely in the immediate future. Certain areas, such as Southern California, Northern Nevada, Dallas, and New Jersey, are showing elevated rates. It is likely that carriers will capitalize on these regional dynamics. On a more positive note, Ohio and Pennsylvania are demonstrating day-to-day fluctuations but have recovered significantly compared to the past few weeks.

Overall, the market is projected to maintain steady conditions through the remainder of July.

Arizona

Not as demanding as Southern California but is tightening in & around Phoenix. All other areas are plentiful.

California (Northern)

Central California rates will rise as Southern California adds pressure to the area. Northern California is more neutral. This will likely continue week to week.

California (Southern)

Throughout the week capacity is more demanding. With Los Angeles port volumes peaking it is constricting coverage.

Carolinas

Relief will transpire throughout the week. Somewhat challenging early on then rejuvenates by Thursday.

Eastern United States

New Jersey is hurting Eastern parts of Pennsylvania, while Western Pennsylvania is upgrading. Flooding impacted the area. Road damages / detours may arise.

Florida (Northern)

Central Florida and moving north into Southern Georgia are very similar with moderate availability. Northern Georgia is more volatile and hasn’t quite recuperated.

Florida (Southern)

Bouncing back with sufficient availability. This trend will continue week to week.

Georgia

Central Florida and moving north into Southern Georgia are very similar with moderate availability. Northern Georgia is more volatile and hasn’t quite recuperated.

Idaho

No real change. Maintaining a quality market. Movement isn’t taking place for now.

Midwest

Improvement is taking place in Ohio, Indiana, and Western Michigan compared to the last couple weeks.

New York

Coverage is consistent and mirroring the Northeast. All areas are satisfactory.

Washington/Oregon

Back to a positive region. Capacity is abundant, allowing reliability to rise.

Texas

Dallas, Houston and San Antonio remain limited. South Texas is not as favorable as last week but still balanced.
