Overview & Projections

Rejection rates are climbing in markets like Jacksonville, Nashville, and Phoenix due to spot market shifts, leading to higher freight costs. Surprisingly, Atlanta has seen a temporary decline in rejection rates, though this trend is unlikely to last. Fuel costs are another key factor affecting coverage and pricing, with diesel prices up 3% month-over-month and wholesale prices climbing nearly 18%. Since fuel accounts for 15-25% of carrier operating costs, this is a critical area to monitor. The market is expected to stay balanced this week as produce shipments increase in preparation for the upcoming holiday, with demand anticipated to rise further next week.

Texas

Dallas and Houston are more limited. South Texas is moderately tight. Western parts are stable. Austin will be the best market.

Midwest

Fluctuating day to day. Particularly Western Michigan, Central Indiana & Northern Wisconsin. Southern Ohio is slightly shifting as well.

Northern California

Produce shipments will remain in full swing especially with the 4th approaching. Appears consistent this week, likely to shift next week.

Southern California

Also remaining consistent. Rates will rise at the end of next week. Outbound tender lead time will benefit constricted coverage.

Florida/Georgia

Jacksonville area is the most demanding. Georgia is trying to improve near Atlanta, but Southern Georgia is still yielding higher rates.

Southern Florida

Availability is progressing as volumes wane. Even noticing positivity to Central Florida.

Washington/Oregon

Yakima areas & down into Eastern Oregon are slightly tightening. Potential to notice variations by Friday.

North & South Carolina

The Carolinas are becoming challenging with their produce season arising. Georgia is affecting South Carolina coverage causing rates to climb.

Idaho

Currently slightly tight conditions. If Washington and Oregon continue to shift into next week, Idaho will follow.

Eastern United States

New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania are worth
monitoring. May endure subtle shifts later this week & into next week.

Arizona

Southwestern areas remain the most demanding. Spot rates are beginning to rise in Phoenix.

New York

Upstate New York in the Buffalo and Syracuse region is moderately tight. Hudson Valley is more positive.
