Overview & Projections
Import demand has eased since July, allowing both spot rates and contract rates to maintain stability. If the current evenly distributed cycle continues, the market is expected to remain balanced.
Here’s an interesting insight: tariffs are pushing truck manufacturers to cut production, leading to higher truck prices. The last time this occurred was in 2022, when the freight market surged and used truck prices skyrocketed from $58,000 in 2020 to $143,000. While such significant cost increases are unlikely to happen again, carriers who paid a premium back then are more likely to exit the market after enduring years of softer demand.
On the bright side, the Southeast is starting to recover and has become a plentiful area for coverage. However, keep an eye on more challenging regions like Memphis, Tennessee, and parts of Arkansas.

Arizona
Area is just fine with ample capacity available. Securing trucks shouldn’t be an issue.
California (Northern)
Oregon is tightening which could cause future constraints to this area. For now, Central and Northern California will remain manageable.
California (Southern)
If anything, improving as load volumes decline. Carriers will start moving north in search of freight.
Carolinas
South Carolina has moved into plentiful status while North Carolina is stable. Toughest spots are in the Southwestern parts.
Eastern United States
Reefer quantities are rising and staining coverage in Central / Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Pittsburgh market is stronger.
Florida (Northern)
Outbound pricing is providing ongoing improvement. Availability is building in the Southeast with produce shipments declining. Atlanta is slightly fluctuating.
Florida (Southern)
Carriers will deadhead north for freight. Peak produce season has ended.
Georgia
Outbound pricing is providing ongoing improvement. Availability is building in the Southeast with produce shipments declining. Atlanta is slightly fluctuating.
Idaho
The harvesting of new crop is underway. Spot rates will hold on the higher end.
Midwest
Reefer volumes are elevated throughout this region. Wisconsin will alter the most this week.
New York
Similar to last week and holding onto stable conditions. Area will become more demanding soon.
Oregon/Washington
Both states are tightening all together. As we move closer to Labor Day, shipment volumes will rise and coverage will dwindle.
Texas
Steady to start the week with normal trends then improving all around come Thursday / Friday. A positive sign capacity wise.
