Overview & Projections

Reefer tender rejection rates reached a three-year high of 12% at the end of last week, with the market tightening further into the first week of July. Texas, California, and the Southeast remain the tightest markets, with Texas experiencing rate spikes near Lubbock and in the Northeast region close to Arkansas, while South Texas maintains beneficial capacity levels. Strong communication and working with reliable carriers, even at higher costs, are crucial during this period. Post-holiday capacity tends to stay tighter until mid-July when typical market trends resume.

Arizona

Isn’t forecasted to be too strenuous. Produce areas will call for more coverage but better than expected.

California (Northern)

Produce shipments will remain in full swing. Multi-picks and teams heading to the East Coast will cost a premium.

California (Southern)

Carriers will be more particular as most drivers want to head home. Highest rates of the season will occur this week.

Carolinas

The Carolinas are also limited. South Carolina rates are up statewide. Capacity within North Carolina is spotty. Western parts are restricted.

Eastern United States

Anticipate Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey to follow suit. Costs will rise on the East Coast throughout the week.

Florida (Northern)

All parts will present challenges. If possible, previously partnered carriers are worth paying more. Spot carriers in a tight market can cause turbulence.

Florida (Southern)

Availability is progressing as volumes wane. Even noticing positivity to Central Florida.

Georgia

All parts will present challenges. If possible, previously partnered carriers are worth paying more. Spot carriers in a tight market can cause turbulence.

Idaho

Similar to Washington and Oregon. Wouldn’t expect anything too demanding until weekend shipments come into play.

Midwest

Western Michigan, Central Indiana and Northern Wisconsin are tighter. Ohio, is slightly improving in Southern spots.

New York

Upstate New York in Buffalo and Syracuse is moderately tight. Hudson Valley is a better market with more availability.

Washington/Oregon

Decent coverage to begin the week then becomes more volatile Thursday and Friday.

Texas

Dallas and Houston remain limited. Rates are rising near Lubbock and Texarkana. South Texas is maintaining coverage.
