Overview & Projections

Tender rejections are climbing and hit their second-highest level this year. Spot market rates are up and holding steady around 12.5%. While capacity is returning to the roads this week, it’s going to take some time to normalize, so hang tight.

Looking ahead, July rates are expected to remain neutral or dip slightly as outbound volumes drop. Spot rates, however, aren’t likely to climb again until late August or early September. On a brighter note, some relief is on the way for Florida and Georgia as produce volumes ease up and shift up the east coast. California rates should also stabilize soon.

One thing to watch? Diesel fuel prices. They’re at their highest point this year and could have a ripple effect on fall carrier capacity, so keep an eye on that as July progresses.

Arizona

Month to month this area will progress. This week looks just fine. Stability is present.

California (Northern)

Central and Southern California parts present similar trends. Once capacity establishes itself again, market movement won’t transpire much.

California (Southern)

Carriers will be back on the road within the next week and coverage will strengthen. Expect consistency now that the holiday has passed.

Carolinas

Freight demand remains high as production increases. This will continue until the Georgia market improves.

Eastern United States

Philadelphia and New Jersey areas are tighter, while the rest of Pennsylvania is balanced. The Northeast will improve day to day.

Florida (Northern)

Hasn’t turned the corner just yet but will here soon. Availability will build as shipping quantities decrease. For now, expect slightly higher costs.

Florida (Southern)

Produce is moving north and the area is neutralizing. Capacity will enhance week to week.

Georgia

Hasn’t turned the corner just yet but will here soon. Availability will build as shipping quantities decrease. For now, expect slightly higher costs.

Idaho

Rates are projected to stabilize. Coverage is available locally and in surrounding areas.

Midwest

Central Indiana and Western Michigan are currently tighter. Midwest shipping will ramp up within the next month.

New York

Better coverage in Upstate New York. Hudson Valley is favorable. Apple growing season is underway.

Washington/Oregon

Better coverage this week. Rates will be more generous until Thursday and Friday.

Texas

South Texas is fluctuating some but will be manageable. Everywhere else is consistent. Dallas and Houston will remain limited.
