EFS Refrigerated Freight Report November 4, 2025

Overview & Projections

Rejection rates have risen to over 17%, prompting shippers to focus on long-term carrier relationships over short-term savings. As theft and fraud increase during the holidays, working with reliable carriers is crucial, especially with operating costs up 33% since 2019. The transition to Yuma, Arizona, begins this month, with longer wait times expected at shipping facilities. Proactively communicating delays can help avoid shipment issues. Fuel prizes are also up 10 cents, which may affect post market rates for long-haul shipments.

Arizona

November will bring increased produce quantities. This week will be the start of transition season.

California (Northern)

Nothing concerning is transpiring. If anything, the market will continue to improve as quantities decrease. Trucks will start heading south.

California (Southern)

Stability is maintaining and carrier costs haven’t altered yet. Now is a good time to secure quality carriers.

Carolinas

South Carolina cannot gain momentum as Florida and Georgia affects its markets. North Carolina is the opposite and slowly gaining coverage.

Eastern United States

Unwavering consistency. Market conditions are maintaining week to week in all areas, including the Northeast.

Florida (Northern)

Florida can tighten as the week progresses. Georgia is similar and neither state appears to be moving in positive directions.

Florida (Southern)

Higher demand than usual for this time of year. Carriers are available, just not as abundant.

Georgia

Florida can tighten as the week progresses. Georgia is similar and neither state appears to be moving in positive directions.

Idaho

Long haul shipments will cost a premium, especially to the East Coast.

Midwest

All states within the Midwest are fluctuating day to day while coverage is spotty. Try to lock in carriers earlier in the week.

New York

Upstate and Hudson Valley are holding true. Lanes heading west are desirable.

Oregon/Washington

Limited status persists & rates will remain elevated. Competition will rise and locking in carriers sooner rather than later is beneficial.

Texas

Texas is tightening all around this week. Austin is the most promising area, while all other parts will take more effort later in the week.
